Isaac is the amazing creator of one-of-a-kind pieces like this wonderful Thunderbird bolo. Feathering materials of Natural Cerrillos Turquoise in the Thunderbird, jet, coral, natural southwest turquoise and sterling silver overlaid on a slab of mother of pearl. There are silver tips on the ends of the leather and this piece measures approximately 2 7/8” x 1 1/4”. The back sterling piece is hand stamped with rain clouds, thunderbirds, mountains, IC and .925.
Isaac Coriz is a very talented artist in the traditional and modern day styles of heishi, mosaic inlay, silversmithing and link working. When Isaac was young he would watch his mother, Mary Coriz Lovato, create eye catching pieces of mosaic work, his grandmother, Lupita Coriz would teach him the art of making heishi beads. His grandfather, Santiago Leo Coriz, would be Isaac’s teacher in the art of silversmithing and creating link chains and bracelets. Isaac has lived his whole life in Kewa Pueblo (Santo Domingo).
